Island Scout Camp

image

Twenty three Scouts (and a few Leaders) from 2nd Onchan’s Moddey Dhoo and Phoenix Scout Troops attended the Island Scout Camp at Peel over the 8. – 10. July 2010, making up around a third of the campers on site.

After putting up our Patrol Tents we hiked to Peel Hill where the Camp Opening Ceremony took place against the setting sun. It was quite late by the time we got back to camp so after supper it was time for bed.

imageSaturday consisted of ticketed activities which included: Climbing, Kayaking, Axe & imageSaw, Fire Lighting, Swimming, Mountain Biking, Sea Kayaking, Backwoods Cooking and Pioneering. After tea a Treasure Hunt around Peel kept everyone busy and in the evening we were joined on site by two groups of Irish Scouts who led the camp fire entertainment. The evening was finished off with a movie in the marquee.

imageOn Sunday the Scouts had to complete a series of challenges before we took down the tents just before lunch. Then it was a case of packing up the camp before heading off home. Luckily for us (but not other parts of the Island) we enjoyed fine weather for almost all the weekend. All in all a great camp.
