Over the weekend of the 12. – 14. March 2010 nineteen Cubs and five Leaders from Manannan Cub Pack attended a camp at Ardwhallin Outdoor Pursuits Centre in West Baldwin. On the Friday night once everyone had a arrived we allocated groups for the weekend and rooms for the weekend too.
The first activity was a nice walk up to St Luke’s Church where we found the hidden Letterbox up there, then it was a quick scavenger hunt for Akela’s torch and a name tag he had lost. Then it was back to Ardwhallin to play a couple of Wide Games in the back field before heading back inside for a hot chocolate and then it was time for bed.
Saturday was an early start for Akela who only managed to get a couple of hours sleep, soon after Akela was up most of the other Cubs were too, then it was time for breakfast and then inspection. After everyone had woken up, we split into three groups and did some orienteering, chariot racing and the challenge bases which are scattered around Ardwhallin. It was then time for
a break and then we cooked our lunch on BBQ’s near the reservoir, we then built Bivaouc’s in the plantation and also completed a blindfold trail in the plantation. It was then a short walk to the Easter Egg rolling competition before a short walk back to Ardwhallin and then completed a few runs on the Assault Course. It was then time for dinner, and after dinner we watched a 3D film in the Fox’s Den before everyone headed to bed.
Sunday was a bit of a later start with everyone waking up to the smell of Bacon Butties, after breakfast we had inspection followed by doing some Archery, Low Ropes and the Cheese Crates. Then it was time for some wet assault course fun, each of the Cubs had their own balloon full of water then there task was to carry it round the assault course without spilling any of
their water. It was time for lunch, everyone enjoyed there pizza, chips & hot dogs before all the Prizes were handed out for the weekend, the best Cub for the weekend was Toby – well done to him. The best group for the weekend was the Lilies. The best Leader which was chosen by the Cubs was Mark. The weather was fantastic throughout the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed by all the cubs and the leaders.
