Beavers by the Sea

Tuesday Beavers had a trip out by minibus to Laxey Beach on Tuesday 29. April 2008. They played games on the Beach before enjoying a barbecue of Hot Dogs and Burgers. Beaver Leader James, who is going off to Teacher Training College soon was presented with some Book Vouchers.

Mountain Bike Camp Postponed

The Scouts Mountain Bike Camp due to be held on the 26. April 2007, is being postponed due to the horrible weather up at South Barrule. The Camp will now take place next weekend over the 3. & 4. May 2008. Scouts who are unable to make this new date will get a refund. Scouts who are now available to make the camp on the new date are welcome to book a place. Kayak Training Camp

The Phoenix Troop are running their annual Kayak Training Camp in Ramsey over the weekend of the 24. - 25. May 2008. Members of the Moddey Troop are invited to join the Phoenix Scouts on this activity.

Snaefell Cubs at Ardwhallin

Over the weekend of 18th - 20th April, 17 Cubs, 5 Leaders and 1 Explorer Scout took part in an Indoor Camp at Ardwhallin.  Friday night consisted of wide-games & settling into Ardwhallin and incredibly an early night for the Cubs.

Saturday activities included Archery, Low Ropes, Team building exercise, BBQ, a hike, bivouac building, blindfold trails and also entertainment inside in the evening.

Sunday all the Cubs were up nice and early, activities included shoot the balloons in archery, team games and a couple of wide games and to finish of making rice crispy cakes.

Unfortunately we couldn't do kayaking as the weather was very windy but hope to do it in May.  Thanks to all Cubs and Leaders from Snaefell who took part.

Orienteering Competition

Three Scouts from the Phoenix Troop (Nick, Luke & Joe) took part in the Island Orienteering Competition at South Barrule on Sunday 20. April 2008. They came third behind a team made up of two Scouts and a Leader and one adult on his own. Well done all three.

Dates for your Diary

The Group Awards Night and Annual General Meeting will be held at the Scout Hall on Friday 17. October 2008 starting at 19:30. Awards will be given out to both Cub and Scout Sections. This is a not to miss evening.

On Friday 14. November 2008, we will be holding our ever popular Pig Race Nights. A great night of battery powered pig racing. This night always sells out and the fun will start at 19:30.

St. Georges Day Photos

Beavers, Cub and Scouts from the troop took part in the Island St. Georges Day Parade which took place in Onchan on the 13. April 2008.
